Get ready to get your ¡Viva! on this month, as we celebrate, well, celebration at the September Bike Party on Friday, September 9th!
What does ¡Viva! mean? Whatever it means to you! You can celebrate independence (Mexican or otherwise), celebrate Linden Street, maybe Elvis-ify yourself (and your bike) in a ‘Viva Las Vegas’ tribute. You could even come as a roll of Viva brand paper towels! It’s a celebration where you can celebrate whatever you like. Heck, get meta and celebrate celebrations which celebrate something.
It’s going to be amazing, as we’ve got an optional pre-ride, valet bike parking from the East Bay Bicycle Coalition, and the amazing beer & facilities of Linden Street Brewery for the after-party. Plus, we’ve got amazing food vendors at the after-party and post-ride music! The beer sales benefit the East Bay Bicycle Coalition, which rocks, since it means that bike partiers partying will help an organization helping bikers to bike and bike party!
Here’s the route (click the map to go directly to the Map My Ride page):
On 2nd Friday (September 9th) we’ll begin to gather at Frank H Ogawa Plaza at 7:30pm. However, if you want to pre-party, you’re invited to join UC Berkeley’s ‘Bike to Campus Day’ celebration at Sproul Plaza:
The Bike Party pre-ride will leave from Sproul Plaza (about 7pm) in order to get you to Frank H Ogawa Plaza by 7:30pm. You’ll see people gathering to ride out around then.
When we roll from Frank Ogawa at 8pm, we’ll be joined by Planet Booty, who’ll be bringing their Mobile Booty Unit to the streets with us, as well as rocking it at the after-party!
As for the ride route: we’ll head East, then circle back and land at Linden Street Brewery, where you can enjoy Linden Street beer and awesome food from El taco bike, Tina Tamale, and Guerilla Grub. Proceeds benefit the East Bay Bicycle Coalition. What’s more, free valet bike parking will be provided by the East Bay Bicycle Coalition, so you can let your bike play with the other bikes while you grab a beer and dance!
The rides have been getting bigger each month for the last few, so this one should be absolutely amazing. And we’re a community, so if you see some new faces on the ride, make the new bike partiers feel welcome. Since they might not be 100% familiar with the Bike Party vibe, you might encourage them to hang with you and your friends and party in the right lane.
See you there! Get your ¡Viva! on and bring the bike love.
