East Bay Bike Party June Ride

Can I get a… BIKE PARTY!?!

Last month during Bike Party, a group of riders ran a red light, and one got hit by a car. Fortunately for him, the rider was able to walk away from the incident. Was this avoidable? Yes. Is this how true Bike Partiers ride? No.

When you ride safely, you help keep yourself and other Bike Partiers safe. When you ride dangerously, you make Bike Party less safe. It’s not large numbers of people, or even sticking with your friends that helps you avoid accidents, IT’S YOU.

The principles behind Bike Party are very simple – a ‘Golden Rule’ for the road. If a car, bike or pedestrian shouldn’t do it to you, you shouldn’t do it to them. It’s what keeps you and your fellow riders safe. It’s how we ride. When YOU ride safely, YOU make Bike Party Safe.

If you think safety is sexy, and plan to bring that kind of sexy back this Friday, read on!

This month’s Bike Party invites you to let your inner child out to play, with…

Schools Out for Summer!!!!!

WHAT YOU CAN DO:

-INVITE WISELY: If you’re inviting friends, make sure that they think that safety is sexy & know the Bike Party code.

-PICK UP YOUR TRASH: This one’s simple – if you brought it in or ate/drank it, you pack out the can/wrapper/trash with you.

-VOLUNTEER: Volunteer to take a corner and lead the Bike Party through a turn. Make new friends and help make Bike Party awesome.

-COME PREPARED: This is an unsupported ride, so bring whatever you’d bring if you went on a long solo ride. A patch kit, tools, lights, snacks & layers are a good start.

-KNOW THE CODE: If you come out this Friday, this is what the people around you will expect. And you’ll make more friends if you ride safely. Making friends and meeting new people is what this ride is about, after all:

  • Stay Right
  • Stop At Lights
  • Ride Straight
  • Don’t Hate
  • Pack Your Trash
  • Don’t Get Smashed

See you Friday! BIKE PARRRTTYYYY!!!

TLDR: East Bay Bike Party is ALWAYS the second Friday of every month. Meet at 7:30pm, roll at 8pm. Meaning, will meet on June 14th @ 7:30pm. This month, we will meet at Union City BART station, rolling at 8pm. Theme: Schools Out for Summer!! Route sheets will be handed out at the start.

Is part of the code not blasting music, yelling, and screaming through residential areas late at night? Because this seems to be a theme for the Bike Party.

When is the next bike party in Hayward ,union city ,or Fremont

  3. GL says:

People were riding dangerously on the road yesterday and not on the bike lane. This should really be looked at because cyclists seems to have an attitude that it is OK for them to be on the road and not on the bike lane. Someone is bound to get hurt and this really creates a bad image on the bike party. Please take note and instruct all riders how important this is. Thanks.

Technically speaking, bikes are allowed on the road even when there is a designated bike lane. The organizers of Bike Party tell us ad nuaseum to stay to the right, ride safe, obey stop lights etc on evey post they do and they go over it prior to every ride. I don’t think the organizers of Bike Party can do much more than they already are. It’s up to each rider to be safe and not be a knucklehead. Personal accountability. Some people really need to try it. Not saying you are one of those GL, you’re of course. I think these bad apples are a threat to the continuation of Bike Party.

Dear bikers, I had a lot of fun tonight riding with you all in Union City and Hayward. But I left my back-back on the second stop, where we were all dancing. If someone has picked it up, will he / she please send me an e-mail (My cell phone was in the back-pack, so can’t call me). My e-mail address is:
    eyesonearth@yahoo.com

I’d like to offer a $60 reward if the back-pack is found. My jacket and cell phone were in the pack-back and I’d like to have them back. Thanks – Aaron

Where would I go to meet up with the crowd if I’m running late?

If I am arriving late, where would I go to meet up with the crowd?

Thanks for the emphasis on safety. I love bicycling. I hate bicyclists who think that they should ignore traffic rules.

The route is posted usually 24hrs in advance. For last months’ ride, they didn’t post a route just handed out turn by turn directions. Maybe they don’t it anymore. I’d like to see a route too b/c I’m not from the Union City / Fremont area.
